This summer, Mr. Barrientos traveled to Africa to introduce STEM to the youth there. With the help of the local schools’ alumni, they taught them some basic properties of solar energy and solar panels. To demonstrate the power of the sun, they built little cars that were equipped with solar panels on the top to power the motor. Mr. Barrientos returned to SMCA this year and started a club that focuses on solar power. This is one of the many clubs that our middle and high school students have the privilege to be part of on a weekly basis.
