2019 Missions Trip: New York City
SMCA’s mission program helps students grow in their faith by sharing the love of Christ with those in need. Each year creates new opportunities for students to discover a deeper level of compassion and a servant’s heart within themselves. Our team alternates between national and international mission opportunities each year.
This year our team traveled to New York City to team up with various local organizations to help the homeless population within the city. Students were able to witness to over 500 people. They got the chance to provide support to these organizations by performing various tasks at each location. They helped by preparing and serving food in various soup kitchens, helping people shop at the local NYC food pantry and restock the shelves. The team also sorted, labeled, and packed over 1,000 articles of clothing. Our team also gets to see local sites and experience different cultures.
