Maryland State NASP Bulls-eye and 3-D Championships
SMCA Archery competed at the Maryland State NASP Bullseye and 3-D Championships on March 16, 2019. There were over 600 archers from 32 Maryland schools, including public, private, parochial and charter, all at the Carroll County Agricultural Center. After a long day, Faith Crawford (9th grade) won State Champion with a score of 285, winning a specialized bow and a $2000 scholarship. Also, Peter Beil (8th grade), in a dramatic shoot-off, finished 2nd in Maryland, both in the Bulls-eye and 3-D competitions, winning a $1500 scholarship. Other students from SMCA who won awards were 5th graders: Juliana Crawford, Tory Edwards, Kimberlye Kuczewski, Christian Love, and Jazmin Merlette. Several archers shot their personal best. SMCA’s Elementary team won the 3-D tournament, and based on team scores, qualified to send elementary and middle school archers to Nationals in Louisville, KY. In just its third year, the Archery team has gone from no awards to winning a State Championship. All along the way, the team thanks God who does as He desires and has used archery as a great testimony.
