Field Trips: COVID-19 Style
COVID-19 has made the educational world look a bit different. Teachers are having to be more creative in finding ways to teach and reach their students. Mrs. Donna Watson had her high school PLTW Introduction to Engineering Design class take a Virtual Field Trip to Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas complements of Boeing and Discovery Education. Students were tasked with viewing a 30 minute tour learning about the different career opportunities and skills necessary to enter in the field of Aerospace. They were also able to learn about many different space exploration technologies used such as one’s to evaluate sleeping in weightless environments. Students completed a worksheet where they reviewed the skills needed and also determined what job would be of interest or make the most sense to them. These 10th and 11th grade students truly enjoyed the experience from the comforts of their home. Many of our other teachers have implamented similar virtual experiences for their students.
