Equipped to Conquer the 2020-2021 School Year
Anticipation was in the air as the school year began. Many were hesitant or unsure how things were going to go. But God… He worked it all out. The students and teachers were back on campus smiling and laughing and relieved to be back together.
To prepare for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, a task force comprised of administration and other key positions worked hard planning to ensure the health and safety of all students. Also over the summer, teachers were trained in using Google classroom and other online platforms to ensure learning happens no matter where the student happens to be. Brand new desks were purchased to help keep students safe and spaced appropriately. When things get back to normal, the desks can be moved to fit together for some group activities. Three- Panel Desk Dividers were purchased for classrooms that still have tables to ensure that students are protected. Cameras have been placed into each classroom so teachers may zoom with the virtual students while also teaching the students on campus. Hand sanitizer stations have been placed inside every classroom so students can access it throughout class. All students are asked to use it upon entering the classroom. Social distancing markers were placed into the hallways of all buildings to help students properly space apart. Signs were posted to remind anyone entering the building that masks are to be worn. Staff and teachers are in the parking lot each morning at check in locations to ensure that students have completed their Covid-19 questionnaire. Students’ temperatures are checked and recorded before entry as well. The days have been divided into Maroon and Gray Days (school colors) to allow half of the students on campus at a time. Students had the option to choose hybrid (on-campus 2x’s, Virtual 3x’s) or be an all virtual student. The Friday before school started, we were able to join in a circle around our Ebenezer rock and pray over the campus. It was the largest group that we have ever had. Mr. Gaines (our Director) chose the theme verse for the year, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Romans 8:37 We conquered the first week and will continue. Thank you for coming alongside us and being a part of our SMCA family! Let us prayerfully conquer this school year together with God leading us!
