Fellowship with New Friends and Old: Gilbert Run 2021
Students from sixth to twelfth grade enjoyed a nice, cool day at Gilbert Run. It was another great year on Park Day. Everyone was very excited to have the first field trip since 2020. Between volleyball and football, fishing and pedal boats, eating and relaxing, everyone had a great time being outside in the elements for closer fellowship. Teachers and students also got to connect by having the online students tag along in-person. Seniors definitely appreciated the time spent together outside school grounds. The best and greatest highlight was definitely the volleyball game with teachers vs. students. If you ask the secondary teachers and faculty, they might tell you that teachers won, but the win was not definite according to other students. There was also a great game of capture the flag which was student led and run. Both teams had a great time going head-to-head for what might be the first time since lock down. The pedal boats were also a key highlight having no complications or disturbance on that beautiful Friday. Many were able to enjoy a nice ride with past and new peers. This being the end of week one at school, it was a total success and a great way to kick-off the 2021-2022 school year.
