Annual Live Nativity

Years ago, our school would participate in a “drive-thru” Live Nativity. For the short time I was a student at SMCA and I was able to be a part of this event one time. It was INCREDIBLE! Last year, the Lord laid on my heart to bring this event back. With the support of our incredible administration, staff, and parents, once again, last year and this year we were able to do a Live Nativity. Unlike the one in years past, our Nativity would be a “walk through”. This year’s scenes included: the Angel visiting Mary, the journey to Bethlehem: the innkeeper’s house, the three wise men following the star, the nativity, and the cross. Our scenes were updated this year thanks to Mr. Dameon Hayden and other staff and volunteers who graciously put together both the innkeeper’s house and the nativity. Mrs. Debbie Schneider (First Baptist Church of Laplata) graciously allowed us to borrow costumes, sets, and props so that our students would not have to worry about supplying anything other than their presence and a good attitude. Anything beyond that was funded by our student body’s support during our “Live Nativity” dress down day.

Our fourth grade classes were chosen to put on our production and each scene had a short set of material to recite as people visited. “Mary’s go round” once again supplied our nativity animals, providing an interactive, petting zoo! Our very own archery team provided refreshments for the night’s activities. The evening was a huge success and honestly, that was due to the many hands that offered to assist. I praise God for the opportunity to share in not only celebrating the story of redemption that began long before the manger, but telling the fulfillment of His promise. Our students did a phenomenal job sharing God’s love and His redemptive plan. We look forward, Lord willing, to future events that will do the same! Prayerfully, these kids are learning that the message of the Gospel is for all people of all ages, and their opportunity to share His Word begins NOW!
