Real World Example: Criminal Justice Career Options Continued

Our Criminal Justice class had another great guest speaker. Attorney Matt Trollinger of Trollinger Law in Waldorf spoke to the students about what life is like as a personal injury attorney. Not only are students able to see another side of the criminal justice system, they also are getting exposure to different career opportunities. Mrs. Gilroy asked SMCA Junior Jamie Davis to write about the experience since she aspires to become an attorney.

“Mrs.Gilroy introduced us to an attorney named Matt Trollinger who is
located in Waldorf, MD. He grew up in Christian schools, went to Grove City College for his undergraduate degree, and attended Regent University where he received all the information that he needed in order to become a lawyer. He knew he wanted to be an attorney at a young age and was inspired by his uncle to become one.
While attending law school, he met his wife at Regent University and she is a lawyer as well. He used to work with a personal injury firm in Washington, DC. After working there he wanted to start his own firm and that is what he did. He and another partner work for his firm. A normal day for them is from 8:30-5:00. While they are working, they review medical records and talk to doctors. A student asked Mr. Trollinger what was a part of his passion to want to become a personal injury lawyer and he said, ““I want to be a voice for people.”” That inspired me even more to become an attorney. I really enjoyed hearing about Mr. Trollinger and what he does.”
