Shining His Light: A Mission of Love and Service to Those in Need

God’s word says “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again” Proverbs 19:17.

In October, our K2-K5 students, in partnership with South Potomac Church and Lifestyles of Southern Maryland, embarked on a heartwarming mission. They collected new and gently used blankets and towels for the annual free Christmas Shop held at South Potomac Church, aimed at supporting the homeless and less fortunate in our community. The drive was an overwhelming success, thanks to the incredible generosity of our Mustang families. It was an incredible blessing to watch our early education students truly embody being the hands and feet of Jesus! Together, our students collected 260 blankets and towels for distribution.

In November, our Kindergarteners continued to shine with their Hats, Scarves, & Mittens Drive. Not only did they gather essential winter items, but they also went above and beyond by collecting toys to brighten the holidays for families in need. These items were also given to be distributed at the Christmas Shop.

In December, some of our high school students dedicated their Saturday to serve over 200 individuals in our community at the Christmas Shop. Their diligent work, humble hearts, and strong Christian values made a lasting impression. Members of South Potomac Church commended on their work ethic, noting their ability to demonstrate Christ-like behavior and their outstanding performance throughout the day. It was truly uplifting to witness the lives touched by the donations collected and the time dedicated on the day of this impactful event.

Our mission was to have our “feet shod with the gospel of peace” (Ephesians 6) and to show the love of Jesus by serving those in need. Thanks to the heartfelt dedication of our students, both young and old, and the overwhelming generosity of their families, our mission was a resounding success.
